I'm very excited to learn more about Japanese history and how the language has evolved over time. I think as a language isolate, Japanese has many unique features in the language. I found that the different pronunciations for same kanji characters or numbers to be quite difficult. It is going to be challenging memorizing how to pronounce certain kanji depending on the context.

Reason to study Japanese
There are many reasons why I chose to take Japanese. The first reason is travel. I've visited Japan twice. I've been to Tokyo, Kyoto, and Niseko. Both trips were fantastic, the food was delicious and people were incredibly nice. The second reason why I want to learn Japanese is because many of my friends have also taken Japanese language courses before. Since childhood I've been learning Mandarin through family and tutors. Throughout middle school and high school I took French courses. I've always found language learning incredibly fun. With language courses I can learn about culture and help with future travel plans, leisure, and work.

DeleteThat's really cool that you know so many languages and agree that language can really help one understand the country's culture. I hope that you will master Kanji characters and be fluent in Japanese soon!
ReplyDeleteありがとうございます!かんじを勉強しましょう!
DeleteIt is interesting to hear a perspective from someone who knows mandarin! I completely agree that Japanese language is truly unique. I am particularly amazed by there being hiragana, katakana, and kanji to make up the language as a whole as well as there being different usages for all three. I still don't know when to use what exactly, but I hope we all eventually master the Japanese language!
ReplyDeleteはい、にほんごはとっても難しいですね!いっしょに勉強しましょう!
DeleteTraveling to Japan is one of my goals so it's actually inspiring that you have been there and now learning the language. I did not know you took French, that's so cool! Memorizing stuff does get challenging but it'll be worth it.
